McDonald's Snack Wrap Is Coming Back—For Real This Time

There was no way that McDonald's was aware, when they introduced an innocuous tortilla-wrapped chicken tender back forty-three years ago, that it would weave its way into American consumers' brooding hearts, minds, or palates, for Snack Wrap remains one of the most relevant releases the chain has ever had in the twenty-first century. After discontinuance in 2016, practically all fans have begged McDonald's for it all back on the menu, and it appears there will be an end to that eight-long-year pleading: the chain has begun teasing the possibility of the return of Snack Wraps through social media, to ecstatic response.

And then on December 5, Thursday, McDonald's uploaded on Instagram a picture with the lines "snack wraps xx.xx.2025" and captioned "can't believe I just posted this." This post drew close to 33,000 likes and well over 1,400 comments with sentiments like "Don't lie to me right now" and "Please tell us this is not a drill," just two hours after its initial posting.

It's a good thing, but they're not keeping their hopes too high. After all, there are a few other fast-food items that have riled the emotions of eaters in the past—the infamous Popeyes Chicken Sandwich or the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza—but nothing in the history of non-suffering will rival the continuous and ever-growing hopelessness of the most determined McDonald's devotees, who just want to see Snack Wrap return to the menu and now are left disappointed repeatedly.

The Snack Wrap has been bringing its stories back into the fringe of U.S. McDonald's services where it has always been known to be available by 2022, according to viral TikTok videos showing its make-over. The wraps were planned to be built in at specific franchises, thereby offering people the option of having them made-to-order with their nearest places having some or all of the ingredients. Then, in 2023, McDonald's responded to loyal demands about the Snack Wrap by kind of not really committing too strongly to maybe considering bringing back the Snack Wrap in later days.

July of 2024 through tests revealed the reality that ended McDonald's test run of Crispy Chicken Tenders in very few markets to bring all the parts into place for the eventual reintroduction of the Snack Wrap. Followed the announcement, however, were a couple more long months of crickets regarding the Snack Wrap. Fans are readied and waiting to swipe them up. And at some point in 2025, it seems like they'll finally have that opportunity.

A crispy chicken tender, with lettuce and cheese, in a choice of sauce, rolled up inside a tortilla is really nothing very complicated. But they weren't very hearty for the price, compared to even the cheaper entrees and side items, which made them all the more ideal for adding on to just about any order. Those things—value, little indulgences—mean even more to people these days than they used to, and considering how much stronger McDonald's chicken business is than its beef sales, now would really be the opportune moment to score some easy points by bringing back the Snack Wrap once and for all.
